Oceanwide Expeditions

What Oceanwide Expeditions is like

Small-ship polar expeditions to Antarctica and the Arctic built around Zodiac landings and optional active excursions, suited to travelers who prioritize wildlife and landscape over shipboard luxury.

Very small, informal ships

Plancius carries 108 guests and Hondius 170; the line describes the onboard style as informal rather than luxury. (Plancius and Hondius; Ortelius capacity not verified)

Activity-led Basecamp voyages

Basecamp departures include camping, kayaking, snowshoeing and mountaineering, but some activities are capped and need pre-booking. (Basecamp departures only; other voyages differ)

Mostly English-language departures

Most departures are tagged English; some are marked Chinese, bilingual or language-assisted, so check the voyage tag. (Varies by departure)

Check before booking

• Bar drinks, gratuities, flights and laundry cost extra; check each voyage's inclusion list, since activities and Wi-Fi terms differ by departure.
• Landings, camping and kayaking depend on ice, weather and wildlife, so treat listed activities as possibilities rather than guarantees. (All polar voyages)
